we advise strongly that you remind your children of the following:  A stranger is ANYONE they don’t know; They should not wear any type of headphones while outside; this will make them oblivious to any vehicle or person stalking them; They should never get into anyone’s car without a parent’s permission; They should never take candy or gifts from a stranger.  They should never help strangers, no matter how sympathetic they might appear, because adults should NOT ask kids to do things that other adults can do for them; They should run away from a car that pulls up beside them if they don’t know the driver; They should never invite people into their home without a parent’s permission; When in doubt, they should scream as loud as they can to attract attention; They should tell an adult if a stranger is taking a picture of them. THE VILLAGE OF FLOWER HILL MOURNS THE LOSS OF FORMER MAYOR JOHN WALTER

Sadly, John Walters died on January 5, 2018 at home with family present.  Visitation is next Friday, January 12, 6-8 pm in the Congregational Church, North Lounge.  The celebration of John’s life will be on Saturday, Jan 13 at 11am in the Church Sanctuary. Memorials to:  “Church Memorial Fund” or to “Adventures in Learning”, mailed to Congregational Church, 1845 Northern Blvd., Manhasset, NY 11030.   John’s many community service roles include being a former Mayor of Flower Hill (1988 – 1996) and has for many years been the “Flower Hill Association”, also serving on Council of Greater Manhasset Civic Associations, Inc.as Secretary for several years.


WATER FOR PUERTO RICO

SENATOR ELAINE PHILLIPS: As Long Islanders we know first-hand the importance of safe drinking water and have made it our priority to protect our sole source water aquifers for future generations. Right now, millions of residents of Puerto Rico are in dire need of clean drinking water following the devastation from Hurricane Maria. My office is partnering with Long Island Cares for an “H2O for Puerto Rico campaign to collect bottled water for our fellow Americans. We are seeking donations of drinking water in any form: jugs, bottles, canned, etc. VILLAGE HALL IS A COLLECTION POINT FOR WATER
